4Securitas and Meptagon Group sign a strategic partnership to unify IT security with OT (Operational Technology)

Ireland will be their first market to launch this unique innovative solution

Dublin, 10-11-2022 4Securitas – an innovative European company developing cutting-edge solutions in the field of cybersecurity and Meptagon Group, an independent integrator that provides industrial and advanced manufacturing solutions for a worldwide market, yesterday signed an agreement to integrate their industrial OT (Operational Technology) solutions with the 4Securitas Cybersecurity platform called ACSIA XDR Plus.

This partnership addresses the distinct separation between automated manufacturing & process engineering systems and the absolute need to incorporate cybersecurity at every level within these production environments. Protecting critical infrastructure and large manufacturing operations from cyberattacks is a growing but essential challenge for Governments and Businesses around the world. Maintaining critical services and protecting global supply chains has never been so challenged as in recent times, with politics, regional conflict, and financial extortion being key motivational drivers for cyber criminality. Integrating advanced XDR (eXtended Detection & Response) cyber defence capabilities into Operational Technologies is a significant step to eliminating these threats. In 2019 BMD expanded operations into the Leinster region of Ireland.

Very soon after, BMD worked closely with Meptagon, especially Dedi Mezare,  to secure a project on a new high technology facility in the area. The project was in a facility building that contained over 200 pieces of equipment and pipework up to 42”. The building required a large amount of re-design at project commencement without schedule push. This necessitated a large amount of BIM design development , which was new to BMD.

This was ably led by Ian Connell and his new team. The BIM re-design was in parallel to commencing workshop activities in Cork so work prioritization was key in keeping the workflow going. The project team was led by Paul O Sullivan with Brian Walsh acting as GF. Paul and Brian’s planning of the project was instrumental in delivering a successful and safe execution.

The building construction was complicated so sequential planning of the rigging element of the job was required. Due to the large bore nature of the project a temporary facility was acquired for the project duration. This workshop produced close to 250000 Weld Inches over the course of the project in Carbon Steel. The site and workshop teams delivered a fantastic result for both the client and the business. The client was very pleased with the professionalism that BMD demonstrated throughout the project. We expect that the project will be completed in this quarter, almost 3 years after initial engagement.

A new technology is added as an integral part of Haifa Port’s truck cargo gate, which opened earlier this year and is considered the most advanced of its kind in the world: an innovative system that recognizes the faces of incoming truck drivers while they sit in the cabin, and which operates under any weather and lighting conditions.

The system is the product of the port’s collaboration with the Israeli Meptagon group and Wikisense. The facial recognition system uses a database created from images in Haifa Port’s existing licensing system, which constantly updates automatically by optimizing the data that is being collected every day at the entrance gate. However, the database does not include actual photos of drivers, and it contains no private or personal information related to the drivers.

In a pilot run of the system that was carried out in recent months, 99.5% of incoming truckers were identified correctly and quickly, and the system reduced the number of staff required at the port’s entrance gate by 40%. Haifa Port predicts significantly higher savings within a few months, once the run-in period is over. Following the successful pilot, this week the system became almost fully operational, and it was launched in a modest ceremony while complying with COVID-19 protective measures.

The project leaders in Haifa Port were Yaron Klein, Head of Security; Yehoshua Forman, Head of the IT Division; and Uri Regev, who supervised the project on behalf of the IT Division.

The “Golden Mark” on behalf of the Standards Institution of Israel is awarded to companies which operate 3-4 different management systems which meet the standard
